Spiced Sweet Potato Hummus

Experiment with this hummus recipe that uses sweet potatoes and a variety of spices. A healthier alternative for the traditional hummus recipe, this dish tastes just as delicious as any hummus you’ve ever tried. Served with a side of pita bread or crackers, this spiced hummus is bound to be an instant hit amongst your guests.

YIELDS: Makes 1 large bowl

INGREDIENTS:
• 1sweet potato, cubed
• 2 cups cooked chickpeas
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 Tablespoon cumin
• 1 teaspoon sriracha
• pinch of nutmeg
• pinch of cinnamon
• 4 Tablespoons tahini
• Juice from 1/2 a lemon
• 2 Tablespoons olive oil
• Salt and Pepper to taste

METHOD OF PREPARATION:
1. Place a pot of water over medium heat.
2. Add sweet potatoes to it and bring it to boil. Lower the heat and allow the potatoes to simmer for about 15 minutes. Potatoes should be tender and soft.
3. Drain the water and allow potatoes to cool.
4. Blend all the ingredients together in a food processor until a smooth paste is formed.
